McDowell Sonoran Conservancy

We are collaborating with the Conservancy’s monitoring programs to study human impacts on the ecology of the McDowell Mountains, east of Scottsdale. We are working with Conservancy volunteers to study the distribution of ground-dwelling arthropods on and off the Conservancy’s trail system. Volunteers are involved in setting pitfall traps, collecting arthropods from the traps, and then identifying the arthropods at a coarse level. CAP scientists then complete the data analysis and share results with the Conservancy, which will be using these results to develop plans for the Conservancy area.
