Well, our proposal is in. Regardless of how it fares, we push forward with this initiative: Earth System Science for the Anthropocene Graduate Scholars Network. VERY excited about this - with awesome colleagues @ProfAbigailYork @BryanBrayboy @MargaretGarciaE @AZoceanographer

There's just over a week to apply for this position -- this is an exciting time at UMaine, and you'd have a real opportunity to make a difference. I'm happy to answer questions! https://t.co/I7th7jWzNP

Why do we care about #permafrost in the #climate system? These pools (gigatons C) show that permafrost is not the largest but stores more carbon than global vegetation. It is dynamic, readily exchanging w/ the atmosphere in a region warming ~4x faster than the global average. 1/

Please help spread the word: I am recruiting grad students + postdocs to start soon.

Requirements:
- Be a decent human being (we don’t work with jerks)
- Interested in marine systems and using quantitative tools
- Want to change the world
