As part of the University of preeminence initiative in Ecosystem Ecology and Biodiversity the Department of Biology at the University of Florida seeks applications for a tenure‐track Assistant Professor to begin August 16, 2018. The Department of Biology welcomes applicants working at the interface of ecosystem ecology (i.e., the flow of energy and matter through biotic and abiotic components of ecosystems) and functional, genetic, taxonomic, phylogenetic, and/or other components of biodiversity. Examples include links between microbial, plant, fungal, or animal diversity and carbon or nutrient cycling in terrestrial, freshwater, or marine systems. We encourage applicants who would substantially contribute to the University of Florida’s commitment to broadening participation in the biodiversity sciences.
The successful candidate will be expected to establish an extramurally funded, internationally recognized research program. The candidate will also be expected to teach one course each semester, including ecosystem ecology, as well as other undergraduate and graduate courses in her/his area of expertise.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Successful candidates must have obtained a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in biological sciences or another relevant discipline.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Strong preference will be given to applicants with at least one year of postdoctoral experience, but exceptional applicants at the Ph.D. level may be considered.
