We are recruiting an undergraduate student within the Bonanza Creek (BNZ) Long-Term Ecological Research Program (https://www.lter.uaf.edu/) to assess incidence of aspen running canker, a fungal disease causing widespread mortality in trembling aspen in Interior Alaska and its impact on potential fire behavior, summer 2025. The student will complete an independent research project. The student will gain training in forest disease surveys, field work, and data analysis. The 10-week program will include a stipend, housing allowance, travel to Alaska (if needed), and research funds.
Applicants must be current undergraduate students (graduating Fall 2025 or later).
