The Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of Puerto Rico seeks to fill a full-time tenure-track faculty position in ecology and related fields to teach, conduct research, and contribute to the leadership of the Luquillo Long-Term Ecological Research Program (LUQ-LTER).
Requirements. A Ph.D. from an accredited institution in ecology (terrestrial or freshwater aquatics), biogeochemistry, or hydrology. We seek an individual with (1) demonstrated excellence in teaching, (2) a strong scholarly record in tropical environmental research, (3) the capability to lead a collaborative, interdisciplinary, research team comprising scientists from UPR, USDA Forest Service, and mainland institutions, and (4) experience in research administration in a university setting.
Responsibilities. Teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level during daytime hours, Saturdays, or evenings. Undertake a research program generating publications in scholarly journals. Supervise undergraduate and graduate student research. Develop proposals to generate external research funds. Actively participate in the leadership of LUQ-LTER. Contribute service to departmental and university committees consistent with the General Regulations of UPR.

- a statement of scientific management philosophy (maximum 2 pages),
- a statement of teaching philosophy (maximum 2 pages),
- curriculum vitae,
- evidence of degrees completed,
- examples of publications or other scholarly work,
- student evaluations, and
- three letters of recommendation
