The Jornada Basin Long Term Ecological Research program (JRN-LTER) Program Specialist (“project manager”) is a central team member supporting a large interdisciplinary project focused on the ecology and sustainable management of southwestern drylands, with ~15 Investigators and 20-30 graduate students and postdocs. The project manager will coordinate the day-to-day administrative and operational activities of the JRN. Duties may include: assisting with grant planning and administration, budget management and purchasing, program implementation and communication, internal and external operational/administrative liaison, program marketing, and reporting under the supervision of the lead principal investigator of the grant. Supervise student staff. Create promotional and informational content. Provide administrative support to principal investigators to facilitate their research. Facilitate and coordinate seminars, meetings, and special projects related to the research program. Coordinate activities of students, support staff, researchers, faculty, and/or volunteers engaged in implementation of program objectives. Coordinate development of annual reports and program review documents. Maintain project records and related statistical information. Perform or delegate clerical and administrative support tasks, including program correspondence, purchasing documents, permitting, reports, field trip documents, and other publications. Assist in data management tasks, manage communication platforms (website and social media), and generate content for internal and external communications. Develop, coordinate and implement diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Depending on the skillset and interest of the applicant, these activities could include: data analysis, web site design, development of web-based apps and visualizations, preparing scientific figures for publication, and database entry and maintenance. This is a one-year appointment with renewal contingent on performance and continued funding.
