The winter of 2026-2027 brings a massive El Niño, exactly the kind of disruptive event that LTER programs are so good at observing, understanding, and making use of to develop new knowledge of ecological dynamics. Just as communities across the country are preparing to adapt to this massive change to their normal weather patterns, so must the LTER Network adapt and thrive in the face of changes to the priorities and processes of science. The In-person LTER All Scientists’ Meeting, last held in 2022, has been a defining feature of the Network, bringing together researchers, students, information managers, educational professionals and partners for collaborative discussions, presentations, and workshops. In 2027, LTER holds its first virtual ASM. Save the dates and watch this space for session and presentation submission opportunities.
