The consistency and longevity of the LTER Network has led to the development of many tools, databases, and best practices that are useful beyond the Network. An exhaustive catalog of such resources would be impossible. On these pages, you’ll find resources that are particularly relevant to the operation of the Network at this point in time.

Some additional LTER-related resources can be found in the working group archive, the LTER intranet (historical documents and meeting notes), and the Environmental Data Initiative.

• Newsletters:
  • Network News is directed toward everyone with an interest in LTER Science, including LTER Network researchers, partner organizations, students, and staff. It comes out every two months.
  • LTER Announce provides a regular feed of LTER-related events and activities.
  • DataBits articles are produced by the LTER information managers and cover data-related resources, developments, and discussions.
  • Opportunities. The LTER Network has research and research-adjacent opportunities from the undergraduate level to career investigators. Become part of a decades-long legacy of ecological inquiry. LTER-specific opportunities appear in this weekly feed. Many more LTER relevant opportunities appear on our LinkedIn page.

• LTER Network Documentation. This resource strives to provide updated guidance on how the network functions and our guiding policies and procedures (incomplete as of January 2026).
• Most LTER Committees have a shared google drive for collaborative work. Contact the LTER Network Office for additional information.
