Postdoctoral Research in Forest Nitrogen Cycling at Cornell and Hubbard Brook
We are recruiting a postdoctoral associate to join the Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. The postdoc will lead a tracer (15N) study of winter plant, soil, and microbial nitrogen dynamics, and how these processes vary seasonally in temperate forests. The successful applicant will join an interdisciplinary team of ecologists, biogeochemists, and Earth System modelers. They will have opportunities to develop their own additional research questions, to mentor student researchers, and to participate in the broad community of scientists at the Hubbard Brook Long-term Ecological Research site and at Cornell University.
The candidate should hold a Ph.D. in forest ecosystem ecology, plant physiology, soil science, or related field at the time of hiring. Experiences with forest ecosystem ecology, analyses of nitrogen cycling, and stable isotopes are desirable, including knowledge of the relevant literature and research methods. The position is based at Cornell University, with substantial fieldwork at Hubbard Brook in New Hampshire in both winter and summer seasons. Initial salary is expected to be $61,008, as well as Cornell benefits. The initial appointment is for one year starting fall 2024, with extension possible to two years.
Applicants should include a short cover letter, CV, contact information for three references, and a statement of contribution to diversity, equity and inclusion. Applications will be reviewed as received, and continue until the position is filled. For questions, contact Christy Goodale (clg33@cornell.edu).
