Opportunity Type:

The Department of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Science (EOAS) at Florida State University (FSU) is seeking a geoscientist for a tenure track Assistant Professor position with a broadly defined emphasis on Solid Earth Tectonics. The appointee will be expected to develop and maintain a vigorous externally funded research program and to teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

To qualify, the department would prefer a PhD or highest-level terminal degree in Geology or a related discipline from an accredited institution is required. The candidate’s research specialization could include but is not limited to, a combination of field-based studies, laboratory studies, and/or numerical simulations to investigate the orogenic processes, tectonic evolution, geodynamic reconstructions, deformation microstructures, fabrics, fundamental rock physics, seismogenesis, and other quantitative structural geology topics. The ideal candidate will have a documented track record in process-oriented research that provides information on the inner workings of the Earth and other planets and their surface expression.
