The Central Arizona-Phoenix Long-Term Ecological Research Program (CAP LTER) Program Manager and the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Institute of Sustainability (ASU Wrigley Institute) will work with the CAP LTER Director, program staff, scientists, and students to facilitate coordination and collaboration across the program, communicate research findings via various media, and compile annual reports for the National Science Foundation and the ASU Wrigley Institute. Will be responsible for the fiscal management of CAP LTER with the Director and staff as well as for the management of CAP LTER’s undergraduate and graduate research funding initiatives. Will liaise with other research initiatives and community partners, organize events and meetings, track key program metrics, and handle day-to-day administrative operations. Essential Duties
Financial management:
- Manage CAP LTER budgets with GIOS grant manager and Program Director
- Gather and pass expenditure requests on to Director for approval
- Handle invoice payments and reimbursement requests with ASU Wrigley Institute business office
- Draft internal funding initiatives with Director and work with grant manager to disburse funds
- Provide input on funding decisions and serve on funding committees
- Assist internal grantees with budget revisions
Communication and reporting:
- Compile and write annual reports to NSF
- Write semi-annual reports to ASU Wrigley Institute
- Manage all internal communication with CAP LTER managers, scientists, students, and staff
- Synthesize and communicate CAP LTER research via email, the CAP LTER website, and social media, including writing materials and making design decisions with ASU Wrigley Institute Communication team staff
- Write and provide descriptive materials on CAP upon request
- Manage research outreach with the Site Manager, including meeting with potential community partners and serving as liaison with selected initiatives
- Provide detailed information on CAP LTER research, including lists of publications, upon request
- Serve as CAP representative to LTER Network Communication Committee
Strategic and internal programmatic evaluation:
- Track and communicate key program metrics
- Analyze and communicate program progress
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field AND five years administrative/coordination experience; OR, Master’s degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND three years administrative/coordination experience; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in data and database management and archiving social survey data
- Experience working on higher education projects and initiatives
- Experience coordinating grants
- Experience in event and meeting planning, and securing space and materials for events/meetings; experience managing and organizing large meetings
- Experience with site reviews and hosting visiting scholars
- Experience working with student groups
- Knowledge of Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) summer program or similar programs
- Demonstrated knowledge of CAP and LTER Network Higher Education Committee
- Evidence of professional writing and communication skills
- Experience in organizing and executing programs under pressure and with multiple tasks
