Limnology & Oceanography will be publishing a special issue in 2017, entitled “Headwaters to oceans: ecological and biogeochemical contrasts across the aquatic continuum.” With a special emphasis on connectivity across the landscape, this special issue is an especially good fit for LTER science. The editors note that they are particularly interested in large-scale emerging ideas in the areas of nutrient and carbon dynamics, food web continua, comparisons of the principles and functions along the continuum, and comparisons of the same phenomena in different ecosystems. The special issue begins with a special session at the upcoming ASLO summer meeting in Santa Fe.
