Summer 2005 Information Managers Meeting Report
The annual LTER Information Managers Meeting was held August 4-7, 2005 in Montreal, Canada and was attended by representatives from 25 of the 26 sites, members of the IT group from the LTER Network Office, and IT partners ( link to participant list). The agenda included updates on current projects (items 2-6 below), working group discussions (7-13), and election of new IMExec members (14), as well as a video conference with Henry Gholz and Liz Blood at NSF. Rick Ingersoll An Update to the 1991 – 1993 Surveys: This report is meant to complement and update the original (1991) version and the 1992-93 updates, rather than supersede them. The objective is to point out differences in the observations and conclusions of the previous reports and, as a consequence, important points in those earlier documents will not necessarily be repeated here. It should be noted that although the cover of the original report indicated that the survey had been conducted in January 1992, the survey was actually conducted in the autumn of 1991.

Featured in this issue: After most of the LTER sites have produced their Ecological Metadata Language (EML) packages up to Level 3, the subject still occupies a main line in our agendas. Not only do we want to share our methods to achieve this task with other communities, but we want to study the lessons that have we learned in the process.
